Carl's Drive in BBQ

Some guy named Carl decided to open up a drive in BBQ joint. He had a house couple blocks down from his shop and he was making real good business after World War II cause of the economy. His drive in place was just a few miles from where Disney Land is now. Carl heard about some other burger joint sixty miles of Los Angeles, so he went to go check it out. He went to San Bernardino and saw another burger joint with a fat line of people waiting to get their food, guess what the place was called? Mcdonald Brothers Burger Bar Drive-In. These brothers were super rich and had one of the biggest houses in San Bernardino.

Back to the book

I read a couple pages of the "Fast Food Nation" today and got a little information to share. From what I read, it says that the fast food industry was mainly started by a lot of people who never attended college or even business school. The fast food industry also relys on the lowpaid workforce and unskills workers. There was about 3.5 million people working at fast food industries in the 1990's, which is the largest group of people who earn minimum wage. Ill have another post later today, I must get back on track.

Eating fast food

So far the book has just been giving little information on fast food. I know its unhealthy for your body, I just need to read further into the book to find out whats so bad about it. Fast food still doesn't gross me out in anyway, but maybe it might change after I find out a little more. I'm still eating fast food very often, its a fast and cheap stop for a quick meal. I don't believe that this book will change my perspective on fast food.

Book Introduction

Today I started reading the first couple pages of Fast Food Nation. It started off with Cheyenne Moutain, explaining the different work done inside the tunnels and passage ways. People there would eat cafeteria food and get tired of it, so Burger King or Domino's was the place to go. Fast food basically began with hotdog and hamburger stands down in california, then it started to spread like a disease. Fast food was everywhere around the nation, billions and billions of dollars were spent by Americans on fast food.

The intro was pretty interesting, ill get further into the book and post more soon.

Getting started

Today I came in and talked to Ms. Magyar about my contract class. She got me a book called Fast Food Nation for me to read through and take down notes/comments. I spent a good amount of time in class today setting up my blog and getting the basics down. I will post another blog once I get started on the book.
